Basic Requirements for Naturalization

At least 18 years old. Bring ID to Citizenship Day event.
Lawful permanent resident for at least 5 years or 3 years if married to U.S. citizen. Bring Green Card to event.
Five years of continuous residence in U.S.
Physical presence for half of the five years in U.S.
Good moral character. Bring any police or court records to event.
Be able to pass exams on English and U.S. government and history.
Take a loyalty oath and be attached to the U.S. Constitution.
Males between 18 and 25 must have registered with Selective Service System.
